In 1628 the massive royal warship Vasa, pride of king Gustav II of Sweden, which ment to scare everyone in the seas capsized in Stockholm´s port, on its maiden voyage. In 1956 the ship was withdrawn, restored and exhibited in its own museum. It is claimed that the part of the ship under the water was too small to sustain the height and the weight of such a huge construction. Arrogance with no intelligence kills. Like a liquid Icarus. This is the theme of the video. I used the photos that I took entering at Stockholm´s harbour. Sergei Prokofiev (1891-1953) is one of my favourite composers. His immense in concept ballet ´´Romeo and Juliet`` (1918) has always been a source of inspiration for me. I selected for the video the elegant and creepy music of the ´´dance of the maidens with the lilies``. In the last act, Juliet´s friends enter her room with flowers to wake her up for her wedding to find her deadly dead. Mark Ermler (b.1932) is a highly esteemed USSR conductor mostly known in the West for his records of russian opera and ballet. He conducts the legendary orchestra of the Bolshoi theatre. Enjoy
