One of the most expressive songs by Franz Lizst, 1811-1886. The best sentimentalist ode ever composed and written (Victor Hugo) to the woman, according to my taste. Discography has treated well this song of 1842 (final revision 1870), but here I want to share with the community the version sung in Russian by Zara Doloukhanova. The russian mezzo, of armenian origin, accomplished an important carreer in USSR and abroad. A rich, full voice; excellent taste for poetic, arch- like phrasing; a wonderful control of the dynamics of the voice. An extatic rendition, masterly accompanied by pianist Nina Svetlanova. Philharmonic hall of Leningrad, 6th of february 1958. Ilustrations: 1.2. photo of mine in the Hermitage palace, no information about the painting, sorry. 3.Vladimir Borovikovsky, portrait of Maria Lopukhina, 1797. 4.Karl Brullov, italian girl picking grapes, 1827. 5.Konstantin Somov, Lady in blue, portrait of the artist Elizabeth Martynova, 1897-1900. 6.Victor Borisov-Musatov, the reservoir, 1902. 7.Jean Baptiste Greuze, Volupté, 1790. Enjoy.
